VARON

MADE IN
MEXICO

Jewelry Brand for Him/Her/The

The Mexico City-based jewelry brand Varon wishes to return the purpose of body adornment to its traditional meaning — where once again an object’s very proximity makes us live the moments that are meant to be relived. And not just temporarily remembered.

With careful attention to the unique characteristics of every practiced material, each object is necessarily singular within its origin and new biography. Throughout the creational process, the artist behind Varon combines his skill for craftsmanship with his innate fascination for the history of stones and metals. Contemporary yet classic designs are brought into existence, a story written inside them.

The creations of Varon remind again to what it means to desire, and what it means to share one’s energy. The sense of belonging, no matter where or how we end. Objects aren’t objects, they’re physical landscapes that form part of one’s eventual history. The past, the present, and whatever future. Humans have always needed a way of expressing themselves. Let this be one of them.

MOOD

Beautification, but history. Accessories, but memory. Hers. His too. Sometimes theirs. Foreign bodies that become part of our bodies. We don’t claim to make things that are necessary to live. They’re definitely not. So why do any of us continue wanting to own things that, in the end, are kind of avoidable? Well, we don’t want to say these objects make life more meaningful. Because, in ways that’s presumptuous and a little seedy too.

Yet, if we’re totally honest, they do apply some type of new meaning once closer to our physical and mental bodies. Maybe because they mostly help us actively remember things we want to remember all the time. Maybe because they make us feel a little more desirable. A little less crazy? Maybe a little more real. Whatever it is, we like the idea of you potentially feeling a little more worthwhile. A little more human. A little more you.
