Each year Ondalinda x Careyes seeks to tell a story, one that has been pulled from and inspired by the tremendously rich Mexican Culture and the varying landscapes of Careyes. Our annual themes help us to guide our event and communicate a beautiful and rich story, transporting you through unique atmospheres and otherworldly set designs.

The theme of this year’s Ondalinda x Careyes is MULTIVERSE & MAYAN COSMOLOGY, a cosmic journey into parallel universes and alternate realities. Throughout the history of Mexico, many indigenous communities have had and continue to have a strong tie to the cosmos and what lies beyond. At this year’s edition of Ondalinda x Careyes, we will tell a part of this story each night as we travel together into infinity…

Our Universe is wonderful, vast and mysterious and it is also encompassed in each one of us as individual beings. At our 2019 edition, we will explore the duality of our Human experience as we journey through the different universes that co-exist as a mirror to each of our realities. Here, we will have an opportunity to discover each other's worlds, cultivate intellectual diversity, cultural richness, and see new perspectives. That journey will allow us to come together as ONE with the Universe and experience the communion of our souls with each other and with Nature.

Parallel Universes at The Polo Fields | Beginning at 10pm

Theme: The Heavens and The Underworlds
Dress Code: The Gods of The Heavens and The Guardians of The Underworlds

The Nahua people believed that the world of the afterlife was arranged in 13 layers of heavens and 9 of Underworld, each ruled by a specific God. They believed, at the time of death, the individual had to make the trip back to the maternal womb, to their place of origin. On their trek they would be faced with many challenges before reaching Mictlan, the realm of the dead, where they would meet pure darkness and stillness. On this night, we invite you to trust the journey and play with us in-between the darkness and the light. Friday, will open with a communal-style dinner set amongst thousands of candles. Following dinner, we will enjoy playful DJ sets by Lovestruckk and Shane One (Pillowtalk, The Wild Ones), and a live performance by shining stars, Bob Moses.

For this theme, choose to come as either an ethereal God / Goddess of the Heavens or a dark Guardian of the Underworld.

Theme: Lightbeings
Dress Code: Out of this World

Light beings exist in a reality where time does not exist.
"The dividing line between past, present, and future is an illusion” -Albert Einstein.

On this night, we will attune ourselves to a spacetime clock, representing time as an infinite spiral. It is with this galactic clock that our light beings traveled through space to join us for our final evening's celebration... Together, as we conclude our galactic journey, we invite you to come dressed in out of this world attire - ready to explore somewhere new and undiscovered. On Saturday evening, we will party through sunrise with music by Mandrake, Dramian, Öona Dahl, Marvin & Guy, and DJ Tennis.

On this night get colorful and inspired as we takeoff to another universe. We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes for dancing all night long. Bring a change of clothes and bathing suit for a sunrise swim.

Moon Celebration at Teopa Beach | Beginning at 9pm

Theme: The Moon
Dress Code: Goddess & Gods Of the Moon

On Thursday, we will travel into space honoring the moon. The moon is a feminine symbol that represents the rhythm of time as it embodies the cycle. It is the middle ground between the light of the sun and the darkness of night, representing the realm between conscious and unconscious. In astrology, the moon is regarded as a symbol of the soul, determining our capacity for reflection and adaptation. Here, on the beaches of Teopa, we will pay tribute to Her divine feminine energy by celebrating the Woman, specifically, Ix Chel, the Mayan Goddess of the Moon, Water, Childbirth, Healing, and Weaving.

After dinner at Casa de Nada, we will follow a tiki lit path, entering a world of transformation. Traditional ceremonies and live music will guide us through this evening as we celebrate both the light and dark sides that surround us. A live performance by Poranguí, Shaman’s Dream, Ryan Herr, and a DJ set by Eduardo Castillo will continue our journey through experience and sound.

On this night, dress comfortably. A kaftan or linen pants is ideal so that you can be comfortable both seated and dancing. Boots or close-toed shoes are recommended.
